HNS JOURNAL, Entry #6
THE JOURNAL
Hello HNS Insiders!
It’s nearly impossible to believe that October is upon us. In the alternate reality of pre-pandemic life, this past Saturday would have been our first marching band competition of the year. Instead, it was our first football game (which usually occurs in August).
We took about 80 students of the nearly 400 in the program. They wore masks, bell covers on their instruments, and socially distanced from one another the whole game. It was inspiring to watch teenagers take every guideline and procedure seriously for the entire evening. It certainly gives me hope for the future knowing that these students and their peers will be leading the way one day.

‘Anarchy’ Is Not a New York City Crisis. It’s a Lifestyle.
By Jason Gay
If you have spent any time in New York City, I highly recommend this article from this past weekend’s ‘Review’ section in the Wall Street Journal. I laughed out loud at least a dozen times. Jason Gay is one of my favorite WSJ columnists- his pieces both inform and entertain every week.
Classical Music Isn’t Boring!
In this week’s edition of “Classical Music Isn’t Boring”, I bring you Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero” like you’ve never seen or heard before. This is from the Tony Award-winning production, “Blast”. For those of you that are unfamiliar with marching band, this is a great peek into our world!
Why WHOOP?
If you are curious about the WHOOP fitness band that I talk about quite frequently, check out this article on what it does and why I am such a fan.
